Almost Angel here. Disney movies were my childhood, and I’m
sure I’m not the only one. ‘Course, they didn’t stay in my childhood, but that’s
a guilty pleasure I’m not entirely sure I am proud of. Disney isn’t just for
kids and guilty pleasures though, it can also be a great inspiration for the
older groups. Disney movies are notorious for their romance! So here is my list
of Disney inspired date ideas!
1. Lady
and the Tramp. Now that tramp has style! Follow his lead and go out to a
wonderful meal. Don’t go bare bones on this one, (pun emphatically intended) go
get a hearty, warm meal. Maybe make it three courses, you can always share
(wink wink), and work it off with a moonlit walk around the town, park, or on
the waterfront. Kudos if you plan it well enough that you can sleep under a
tree on a starlit night.
2. Or
we can go Frozen and enjoy a lovely sleigh ride, preferably sans wolves, unless
you’re into that sort of thing. You can also enjoy a fun mountain climbing
experience, or maybe camp out in the snow! Or you could be like Elsa and play
in the ice, maybe go to an ice castle in the winter, or just go ice skating,
though I’m sure we won’t be as good as Elsa, maybe more like Anna.
3. Cinderella
is a traditional style of movie, for a traditional style of date, dancing! Don’t
know how? Take some lessons together! It’s great fun, you can even pick something
neither of you know that way it’s all new for both of you. And you can laugh as
either one of you makes silly mistakes. Then, go to your local dancing spots
and show off your new moves! Maybe there’s even a ball in your area, yes they still
have those. Splurge and go together! Sometimes the old traditions are the most
romantic.
4. Take
a leaf (or a vine) out of Tarzan and Jane’s book and learn a new language!
Remember her teaching him English, and him teaching her Ape? Adorably romantic!
If one of you already knows one, teach the other. If not, learn together.
Choose a language you both would enjoy and learn away! Imagine all the
possibilities! Private conversations, maybe you could use it in another country
or maybe even in the bedroom.
5. Aladdin
and Jasmine, now there’s some Inspiration. Take your own magic carpet ride. Now
most of us can’t just hop on a plane and visit Paris/Egypt/Etc. If you can, do
so, but I hate you. (Just kidding!) If you can save up and go on a romantic
trip, go ahead, but most of us just can’t afford it. That doesn’t mean you can’t
go on a magical adventure though. Visit a Parisian café, you could ask them to
set up a table in the corner, or maybe out back, someplace romantic and a
little more secluded. Head to china town, or an old style renaissance town
nearby, you could even head into the big city and enjoy the lights at night,
hopefully you can find one that doesn’t sleep. If it’s close enough, take a
cab, kudos if you do a nighttime date, it increases the romance factor tenfold.
6. Rapunzel
is a great idea for lights too, go to a lovely little town during a festival,
it’s so much fun, and so romantic. If you find a renaissance one, get in the
spirit and dress for it! Maybe you can find a light festival nearby and enjoy a
romantic night by the light of a thousand lanterns.
7. Take
a page out of Mulan’s book and learn to kick some Hunny bun! Take a self-defense
class together, maybe even make it a weekly thing. You could go further and do
yoga too, so you can sway like bamboo in the wind, even while you’re tough like
a rock (Yes I went there, so ha!)
8. The
Little Mermaid is another great movie for date ideas. Try going “Under the Sea”.
Go scuba diving, hopefully some place warm and tropical, or maybe the Great
Barrier Reef! Take a boat ride in the lake, maybe Sebastian will come along and
serenade you! Or go to an aquarium, pet the sharks, dolphins, and manta rays,
just be sure to hit the gift shop afterwards for a souvenir (or the beach).
Speaking of the beach, walk along the shoreline collecting shells and sea
glass, just avoid the evil sea witches :D
9. Oh
Beauty and the Beast, the most iconic scene in that whole movie is when Beast
gives Belle the library. So in that spirit, take a trip to the library! Read each
other passages from your favorite stories, find new ones together, and just
generally laugh and have a good time. Read a children’s book, look for a
foreign language and laugh as you try and speak it together. Maybe find a cook
book and try a new recipe when you get home! Maybe you could try finding a
naughty one and read the worst passages to each other in a whisper. Anything is
possible.
10. Touching
back on Aladdin as well, Genie was always my favorite character, RIP Robin
Williams. In the spirit of Genie, why not head to a comedy night? Laughter is a
wonderful thing, and when you’re sides are aching from laughter remember I’m
the one who sent you there.
11. You could
try being like Snow White and her prince and sing to one another! Go out to a Karaoke
night and sing together, or to each other. It doesn’t matter how much you suck or
how great you are, just sing your heart out. Maybe you could make those old
rock romance ballads popular again!
12. The Princess and the Frog, now there’s a
story! Try to avoid kissing frogs, you already have your prince after all,
rather get in the spirit of New Orleans! Mardi Gras is wonderful, so if you can
go, go! If not, have your own Mardi Gras party. It’s not time? Who cares? Have
some gumbo, take a stroll down the bayou, listen to some awesome Jazz music, or
go have a tarot reading. Just don’t mess with the friends on the other side.
13. What
about Enchanted? Now that was a great movie for romance! There was an entire
song dedicated to romance and telling her how you feel! So do it all! Give her
flowers, send her a note, go boating, and dress to match her eyes, go dancing,
and girls do the same! Do it all!
Well there you go, my Disney inspired date list! I hope it’s
given you some inspiration!
